Silent Book Club Leuven
Slow Reading Leuven is a silent book club in Leuven. We meet monthly to read together in silence, each with our own book. There is no assigned reading and no preparation required.
What is a silent book club?
A silent book club is a relaxed reading gathering without a reading list or discussion during the session. You bring your own book and you read quietly, together with others.
At Slow Reading Leuven:
you bring your own reading material (book, magazine, e‑reader …)
you read at your own pace
we focus is on calm, attentive reading
Before and after the reading hour, there is time for a short, informal chat if you like.
How does a slow reading session work?
We meet at a quiet location in Leuven. You can take a seat and order a drink. Then we read in silence for one hour. Afterwards you can leave straight away or stay for a short, informal chat.
There’s no pressure, no expectations.
Who is slow reading for?
Our silent book club is for:
people who enjoy reading but struggle to find the time or the calm to do so alone
readers who are not interested in a traditional book club with assigned reading and preparation
introverted people who prefer to be alone together
Since everyone chooses their own reading material and conversation is never required, expats and international students in Leuven feel comfortable joining as well.
You don’t need to be an avid reader. Everyone is welcome.
What is the advantage of slow reading?
Slow reading is about reading with full attention, without rushing or multitasking. It helps you reconnect with reading and enjoy texts more deeply.
